Committee Description

An advisory committee, which has been assembled by the County of Los Angeles Parks and Recreation Department, is providing input during the LA County OHV Dialogue and will ultimately identify a set of planning guidelines for a future OHV park system. The committee composition reflects the diversity of recreational, environmental, and planning stakeholders with interests in OHV use and facilities.

The advisory committee meets regularly to progress through a facilitated process of issue identification, research, goal setting, and options analysis. This process will conclude with the identification of planning guidelines, which will be used in the development of a system of future OHV facilities for Los Angeles County. The committee’s responsibilities also include serving as the “conduit” to the community at large and ensuring that input is incorporated into the process. This will be achieved by their attendance at the community workshops hosted by the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation.

Meeting agendas, meeting summaries, and the schedule for future meetings will be posted on this website. Committee meetings will be open to the public.

Committee Goal

Committee members have recognized that the illegal activities occurring on public and private lands and the damage to valuable resources require a common plan/solution for legal opportunities for OHV recreation in Los Angeles County.  Members of the advisory committee are working together to balance diverse issues in the formulation of OHV park planning guidelines to satisfy the needs of County residents.
